HeartCode BLS Online Part 2 – Virtual Skills Testing Option

Complete Your American Heart Association BLS Certification with Remote Skills Testing

For individuals who have successfully completed American Heart Association HeartCode BLS Online Part 1, a fully virtual Part 2 skills testing option may be available in limited circumstances. This convenient training alternative allows eligible students to complete their required hands-on skills evaluation remotely without traveling to a traditional CPR training center.

The virtual skills testing option is designed for individuals who need flexibility due to geographic location, transportation challenges, scheduling conflicts, or other circumstances that make attending an in-person skills session difficult.

Unlike traditional classroom-based skills testing, this option requires students to purchase a Virtual CPR Training Kit, which is shipped directly to their designated address. Students then participate in a scheduled live Zoom session with a qualified instructor who observes and evaluates their CPR skills remotely.

Step 1: Complete HeartCode BLS Online Part 1

Before scheduling virtual skills testing, students must successfully complete the American Heart Association HeartCode BLS Online Part 1 course.

This interactive online program covers essential Basic Life Support concepts, including high-quality CPR, chest compressions, rescue breathing, automated external defibrillator (AED) use, and responding to cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.

Students can complete the online learning portion at their own pace, making it convenient for busy healthcare professionals, nursing students, medical assistants, dentists, and other individuals who require BLS certification.

Upon successful completion, students receive an online course completion certificate that must be presented before participating in Part 2 skills testing.

Step 2: Purchase Your Virtual CPR Training Kit

Students choosing the virtual Part 2 option must purchase a specialized Virtual CPR Training Kit containing the equipment needed for remote skills evaluation.

The kit is shipped to the student’s designated address before the scheduled Zoom appointment. Students should allow sufficient time for order processing, shipping, delivery, and preparation.

The required equipment and associated costs should be confirmed before purchasing the kit. Students should also verify that their equipment is compatible with the virtual training program and meets the requirements established by the training provider.

Because the training equipment must arrive before the skills evaluation, advance planning is essential.

Step 3: Schedule Your Live Zoom Skills Evaluation

Once students have completed HeartCode BLS Part 1 and received their Virtual CPR Training Kit, they can arrange a live virtual skills testing appointment.

During the scheduled Zoom session, a qualified instructor observes students performing required BLS skills using the equipment supplied in their training kit.

Students should prepare a quiet, well-lit environment with enough space to demonstrate CPR techniques. A reliable internet connection, functioning camera, microphone, and compatible computer or mobile device are also necessary.

The instructor provides directions, observes performance, and evaluates whether the student demonstrates the required skills correctly.

Students may be asked to adjust their camera position so the instructor can clearly observe hand placement, compression technique, and other essential components of CPR performance.

Step 4: Complete Your BLS Skills Assessment

During the virtual evaluation, students demonstrate the required Basic Life Support skills according to the applicable American Heart Association course standards.

The instructor assesses the student’s performance and determines whether the required competencies have been successfully demonstrated.

Students who meet all applicable course requirements may qualify to receive their American Heart Association BLS Provider certification eCard through the authorized training provider.

Certification issuance depends on successful completion of both the online learning and required skills evaluation.

Important Restrictions and Scheduling Requirements

The fully virtual skills testing option is available only for eligible HeartCode BLS Part 2 participants and is not a general replacement for in-person CPR skills testing.

Availability is limited and must be confirmed with the training provider before registration. Students should not assume that every HeartCode BLS course or training location offers remote skills evaluations.

Because this option involves equipment shipping, instructor availability, and advance appointment scheduling, it generally requires more preparation than attending an in-person skills testing session.

Students should also confirm that their employer, educational institution, or licensing organization accepts certification completed through the approved virtual training format.

A Flexible Alternative for Eligible BLS Students

Virtual HeartCode BLS Part 2 skills testing provides an alternative for eligible students who cannot conveniently attend an in-person training session.

By combining self-paced online education, shipped CPR training equipment, and live instructor evaluation through Zoom, this approach can help qualified participants complete their BLS certification requirements from a remote location.

Advance registration, equipment purchase, successful completion of HeartCode BLS Online Part 1, and a scheduled instructor-led Zoom evaluation are required. Contact the training provider to confirm current availability, pricing, equipment requirements, and certification eligibility before enrolling.

The location, instructions, and service was very accessible and helpful for completing the training. Though it was virtual, our instructor Fritzie was very knowledgeable and instructions for how to enter the building were straightforward. My daughter was able to join me to translate to Spanish, and everything that was needed was provided and explained. Would use this service again in the future!
