Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between CPR, BLS, and ACLS? Sounds like alphabet soup!

Totally fair! CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is the basic life-saving technique anyone can learn. BLS (Basic Life Support) is CPR on steroids—used by healthcare providers. ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) takes it up a notch with meds, ECGs, and team dynamics. Safety Training Seminars teaches all three, so you can level up!

Do I have to do mouth-to-mouth? Ew.

Great news—nope! In most CPR scenarios today, especially for adults, hands-only CPR is recommended until help arrives. Safety Training Seminars teaches you how to do it the modern way, minus the awkward lip lock.

How long does an ACLS course take—asking for my overbooked calendar.

If you’re taking the ACLS renewal course, you’re looking at around 6–7 hours. If it’s your first time, plan for 1 full day. But don’t worry—they keep it engaging, hands-on, and practical.

Is there a test? Because I haven’t studied since high school.

Yep, there’s a written test and a skills test for BLS and ACLS—but don’t panic. Safety Training Seminars walks you through everything during the class. If you can follow directions and stay awake, you’ll do great!

I’m super shy—do I have to speak in front of the class?

Nope! Most practice is done in pairs or small groups, and no speeches required. It’s relaxed and supportive—plus, the instructors are pros at making everyone feel comfortable.

Can I take the class online in my pajamas?

Sort of! For BLS and ACLS, you can do the online portion at home, then come in for a quick skills session in Campbell. So yes, you can study in your pajamas—but you’ll need pants for the in-person part!

Will I get a card or certificate after I pass?

You bet! You’ll get an official American Heart Association eCard (which counts as your certification) the same day you finish. It’s valid for 2 years and accepted nationwide.
