Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a CPR or BLS certification last?

BLS certification is an essential requirement for healthcare professionals such as nurses, doctors, paramedics, dentists, and EMTs. It’s also highly valuable for medical students and individuals in emergency response roles, ensuring they are prepared to handle critical situations effectively.

Are online-only CPR certifications valid?

No, a valid AHA certification requires both online and in-person components. Our blended learning model offers the best of both worlds. You complete the theoretical part of the course online at your own pace. Then, you attend a brief, in-person session to practice and demonstrate your hands-on skills with one of our instructors. This ensures you have the practical experience needed to act confidently in an emergency.

What is the difference between BLS and CPR?

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a higher level of medical training designed for healthcare professionals. It covers CPR, AED use, and how to relieve choking for adults, children, and infants, plus advanced skills like working in a team. CPR training for the general public typically focuses on the core skills of chest compressions and AED use for a specific age group.

Do you offer same-day certification?

Yes! We provide your official American Heart Association eCard on the same day you successfully complete your class. This includes finishing the online portion (if applicable) and passing the in-person skills session. You can walk out of our class fully certified.

What should I bring to my skills session?

You don’t need to bring much! Just wear comfortable clothing that you can move around in for the hands-on practice. If your course required an online portion, please have your completion certificate ready. Most importantly, come ready to learn and participate.

How do I prepare for my class?

For BLS and CPR courses, no pre-study is required. Just show up ready to learn. For advanced courses like ACLS and PALS, we strongly recommend reviewing the pre-course materials and videos provided after you register. This will help you get the most out of your training.

How do I reschedule my class?

We understand that schedules change. You can reschedule your class by paying a $30 fee. If you purchased reschedule insurance when you booked, you can use that to reschedule without an additional fee.

Where are your training centers located?

Safety Training Seminars has seven convenient locations across San Francisco County to make it easy for you to get certified. Our offices are in the Sunset, Parnassus/UCSF, Telegraph Hill, Mission Bay, Bayshore, Nob Hill, and the Mission District.

How do I get my certification card?

Your certification is issued as an eCard from the American Heart Association. You will receive it via email on the same day you pass your course. This digital card is easy to access, download, and share with your employer.

How do I get my certification card?

Yes, some of our courses offer CE credits for various professions, including California dentists. The number of credits varies by course. For example, ACLS may offer 2-3 CEUs, while PALS can provide up to 5 CEUs. Please check the specific course details page for more information.
