This page is designed for students who have saved the life of someone by performing CPR or First-aid. As we explain in our American Heart Association training classes, CPR and First-aid does not work 100% of the time. There is a chain of events that must happen quickly in order for the victim to have the best chance of survival. The chain includes:

Calling 911
Early CPR
Early Defibrillation
Advanced Life Support

If you see CPR performed on TV and the movies, the victim almost always survives. This creates an unrealistic goal in real life. As long as you tried to do something in an emergency, you should be proud of yourself.
